President of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan Hamid Karzai had a video conference with US President Barack Obama on Friday evening.
In the conversation, the US president reaffirmed his commitment to the Afghan-led reconciliation process. Also, the two Presidents agreed that the strategic partnership talks between the two countries be elevated to a level of National Security Advisors with the first meeting expected in Washington in September.
Other topics of discussion included the transition of security responsibilities to Afghans, regional issues and the reiteration of mutual commitment for a continued fight against terrorism.
