ZANZIBAR (NNN-DAILYNEWS) -- India is to increase scholarship opportunities for Tanzanians come next year 2012, says its ambassador to Tanzania, Kocheril Bhagirath on Thursday.
He revealed the good news during a meeting with Zanzibar Second Vice- President, Ambassador Seif Ali Iddi.
“We will grant scholarships in the areas of agriculture and technology, and also in vocational education,” the envoy said.
Bhagirath said that many Tanzanians had already benefited from India ’s scholarship scheme.
“A fund for facilitators of the media IT training to involve at least 100 students from both Tanzania mainland and Zanzibar has been approved,” said Bhagirath.
Iddi said that India ’s support in vocational training will benefit many youths who have completed school and are currently without employment.
“We have many unskilled and jobless youths who have completed secondary school. Fortunately the vocational training will help reduce the number of jobless youth after the training,” said Iddi.
The Zanzibar ’s Second Vice-President also asked India to provide farming skills to Zanzibar farmers, especially in the area of irrigation farming. -- NNN-DAILYNEWS
