KARACHI (NNN-Bernama) Twenty-three Indian fishermen were arrested and four of their boats seized for fishing in Pakistani territorial waters, Press Trust of India reported.

The fishermen were apprehended after having being warned twice that they had entered into Pakistan's territorial waters and were fishing there illegally, a spokesman for the Pakistan Maritime Security Agency said Tuesday.

They will be presented before a judicial magistrate on Wednesday, an official said.

In January, the Pakistani Maritime Security Agency arrested 31 fishermen and seized 14 boats and detained another 24 fishermen and 12 boats in February.

The arrests came despite recent attempts by both countries to free fishermen imprisoned in jails in Pakistan and India. -- NNN-BERNAMA
