AURANGABAD, Maharashtra state, India (NNN-UNI) -- At least 32 devotees from Andhra Pradesh state were killed and 15 seriously injured when their private bus fell into a river near Naldurg on the Hyderabad-Solapur highway in Osmanabad district, about 300 km from here early today.
According to information reaching here, the mishap occurred when the bus, on way from Hyderabad to Shirdi, plunged into the river after the driver lost control over the vehicle, police said.
After the incident, Osmanabad police rushed to the spot and rescue operations were in progress. The dead are still to be identified.
The injured had been shifted to the Osmanabad and Solapur hospitals. The reports stated that out of 15 injured, the condition of six was critical, police added.—NNN-UNI

NEW DELHI, India (NNN-Bernama) -- At least 32 people have been killed and over 20 others sustained injuries in a major road mishap in the western Indian state of Maharashtra in the wee hours of Saturday, a senior police officer said.
"The mishap happened at 2:40 am when the bus in which the victims were traveling plunged off a bridge in the state's Osmanabad district. While 32 people were killed on the spot, the injured have been admitted to a local hospital where the condition of some people is serious," he said.
The death toll is likely to go up, China's Xinhua news agency quoted the police officer as saying. All the victims were devotees going on a pilgrimage to a holy temple in Maharashtra's Ahmednagar district when the mishap occurred. They were from the southern Andhra Pradesh state.
Andhra Pradesh's Chief Minister N. Kiran Kumar Reddy has expressed grief over the incident and has ordered the state administration to provide help to those injured in the mishap.
"A probe has also been ordered into the incident," the police officer added. -- NNN-BERNAMA
