New Delhi: The veteran politician and BJP leader, Jaswant Singh filed nominations for the Vice Presidential election scheduled to be held on August 7, as an NDA candidate.

In India, the Vice-President is elected through a direct ballot by the Electoral College, with a total of 790 Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha members including nominated members eligible for voting this year’s election.

The Vice Presidential election is being conducted to elect India’s 14th Vice President.

The scrutiny of nomination papers will take place tomorrow and the candidates are free to withdraw their nominations till July 23.

With UPA’s Vice Presidential candidate Hamid Ansari and NDA candidate Jaswant Singh; there are 34 people in the fray for the August 7 Vice Presidential election.
