HAVANA (NNN-PRENSA LATINA) - India's Minister of Trade and Industry, Jyotiraditya Scindia's four-day visit here, was aimed at strengthening economic links with Cuba, its Ambassador to Cuba, Chinthapally Rajasekhar, said today.

"It will be a stay to which we give great importance," the diplomat told journalists, referring to Scindia's visit beginning today, leading a delegation of nearly 20 business people.

"There is goodwill, friendly relations between our countries, and during this visit we will explore what we can do together," said Rajasekhar, who announced the possibility of doing business in the fields of energy, tourism, infrastructure, biotechnology and the pharmaceutical industry.

"We are looking for win-win links", he said as he also referred to the fields of services, computer sciences and in some areas of mutual interest.

Bilateral trade between Havana and New Delhi is estimated at US$40 million a year, he said.

He noted that India sells Cuban medicine, light industry and plastic items, and imports from Cuba some medicine and services. "But that trade can grow," he stressed.

Scindia's agenda in Cuba includes meetings with officials from the ministries of Foreign Trade and Investment, Foreign Affairs and Basic Industry.

On Thursday, he is scheduled to hold a business round with the Chamber of Commerce of Cuba.

"We want to promote cooperation between both chambers and encourage business between India and Cuba," he said.  --NNN-PRENSA LATINA
