Sania Mirza and her Russian partner Elena Vesnina are close to creating history by taking on the Czech combine of Andrea Hlavackova and Lucie Hradecka in French Open Tennis Women's Doubles Competition in Paris today. This is Sania's third Grand Slam final appearance in her career, the first two being in the mixed doubles in the Australian Open. The Indo-Russian duo had done pretty well, making the final of the first Grand Slam they played together. And though it's a first for Sania, her partner is more experienced at playing a women's doubles final in a major, especially on the French Open clay. In fact, when they play Czech duo in the final today, Vesnina will be the only one of the four to have played a Grand Slam doubles final before.
In the semi-finals, Sania and Vesnina defeated their fourth seeded opponents, Liezel Huber and Lisa Raymond of the United States of America 6-3, 2-6, 6-4. (NewsonAIR)
