Lonely Planet Peru (Country Travel Guide)LIMA (NNN-ANDINA) - Peru plans to receive over 3.5 million foreign tourists by 2016 contributing US$5 billion to the economy, Peru's Prime Minister Salomon Lerner said. 

Addressing Peru's Congress, he said the Peruvian government will promote the inclusion of Micro and Small Sized Enterprises (MSEs) and community enterprises in the tourism sector.

The government also plans to increase tourism by promoting other destinations such as the tourist circuit in southern Peru, while strengthening others such as Kuelap in Amazonas, Moche Route in northen Peru and other destinations in the Peruvian jungle.

Regarding tourism infrastructure, Lerner said Peru will invest over 400 million soles in 100 projects throughout the country.

"These projects will create potential businesses worth US$1.3 billion for Peruvian companies, while 100,000 beds will be added to the Peruvian hotel offer", he said.

Lerner added that the government will pursue Peruvian gastronomy to be included on the prestigious list of Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity in the coming years. -- NNN-ANDINA
