The Rendezvous Book of Kerala - Activities and Experiences (Economy)The Minister of State of Tourism, Shri Sultan Ahmed informed Rajya Sabha today that, development and promotion of various tourism destinations/ products /fairs /festivals /events are primarily the responsibility of the respective State Government/Union Territory (UT) Administration. The Ministry of Tourism, however, provides Central Financial Assistance (CFA) for tourism infrastructure development projects /fairs /festivals/events identified in consultation with them, subject to availability of funds, inter-se-priority and adherence to scheme guidelines.

As on date there is no proposal of the State Government of Kerala pending with the Ministry of Tourism for development of tourism in Kollam district.

1. Development of major tourism destination at Kollam providing Entertainment and Children’s Traffic Park as a tourist destination at Ashramam for an amount of ₹ 2.86 crore in the year 2008-09.

2. Rural Tourism Project at Village Clappana, District Kollam for a total amount of ₹ 0.67 crore in the year 2008-09 and 2009-10.

3. Development of Ashtamudi Lake Cruise Circuit for an amount of 5.38 crore in the year 2008-09. (PIB)
