DALIAN, CHINA(NNN-XINHUA) -- Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao has called for consolidated confidence in the process of world economic recovery during his meeting with World Economic Forum (WEF) Chairman Klaus Schwab in this northeastern city Tuesday.Wen said the world economy still faced many uncertain and unstable factors which had caused tremendous challenges and demanded further courage as well as wisdom to deal with them.
"Most of all, we need to consolidate our confidence," Wen said during the meeting with Schwab prior to the Annual Meeting of the New Champions 2011, also known as the Summer Davos, in Dalian.
Countries should step up their co-ordination in a bid to achieve a strong, sustainable and balanced economic development, Wen was quoted as saying in a press statement issued by the Chinese Foreign Ministry after the meeting.
Wen also praised the Summer Davos since its establishment five years ago, noting that the forum had played a positive role for the international community to generate joint efforts to tackle global challenges.
The forum, scheduled to be held from Wednesday to Friday, has attracted some 1,700 participants from 90 countries and regions to discuss topics about economic structure and growth quality.
Schwab said the WEF would continue to work with China to build the forum into a platform for the members of the international community to exchange views.--NNN-XINHUA
