Egyptian FM, Arab League Chief Off For Doha for Arab CMTES Meetings

        

CAIRO (NNN-KUNA) -- Egyptian foreign minister Mohammad Kamel Amr and Arab League Secretary General Nabil Al-Araby left for Doha, Qatar, on Saturday for meetings of the Arab committees over the peace process and Syria.

Amr, in a pre-departure statement, said he would participate in a meeting of the committee of the Arab peace initiative committee, a gathering that will be attending by Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas, to discuss the latest developments of the peace process in light of the Palestinian UN membership request.

Amr said he would also participate in a ministerial committee meeting over the Syrian crisis.

Arab foreign ministers had two weeks ago formed the committee to contact the Syrian leadership and opposition to start a comprehensive and inclusive national dialogue.

The committee, chaired by Qatar, had visited Damascus and met with Syrian President Bashar Al-Assad. Both sides agreed to meet again on Sunday.

The committee expressed, to the Syrian government yesterday, dismay for the continuous killings. -- NNN-KUNA
