UzA- The 12th congress of the International Kurash Association was held in Tashkent Thursday. It was attended by the members of the IKA Congress and the Executive Committee, as well as regional kurash confederations.

President of IKA Komil Yusupov said the national wrestling kurash was dynamically developing across all continents thanks to the initiative and support of President of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov.

The congress was held on the eve of two large kurash events to be hosted by Uzbekistan. On 22-23 October, Termez city will host the 10th Hakim at Termizi international tournament for the prize of the President of Uzbekistan and the eighth world championship among adults.

The congress considered issues of further popularizing kurash wrestling around the world, including high-level organization of the tournaments included in the IKA calendar.

At the event, awards were issued for the 2010 Best tournament (President’s Grand Prize in Bordeaux), Best technique (Abdulla Tangriyev, Uzbekistan), Best championship (Fourth youth world championship in India), Best federation (Indian Kurash Federation).

Yuma Saeki from Japan and Anthea Chase from the South African Republic were named the Best kurash athletes of the year. Titles were also awarded for the Best confederation, Best judge, Best journalist and the Best kurash promoter.---UZA
