According to the latest opinion poll conducted by TNS-OBOP for Gazeta Wyborcza, the Civic Platform may win about 39.5% of the votes while Law and Justice may gather 29.1%.
Over 30 million Poles eligible to vote are electing 460 lawmakers to the Sejm, the country’s lower house of parliament, and also 100 senators to the upper house.
Prime Minister Donald Tusk’s Civic Platform led the final opinion polls but its main rival, former premier Jaroslaw Kaczynski's conservative-nationalist Law and Justice (PiS) party, narrowed the gap at the end of the election campaign.
The Civic Platform, which has pledged to focus on economic reform and closer ties with the European Union, is likely to win the parliamentary poll by a margin of 4-10% to become the first party ever to win two consecutive terms since the collapse of communism in 1989.
