TEHRAN (NNN-IRNA): President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad says Iran and Iraq have close relations and nothing can divide them.

Speaking to Iraq's Army Chief, Lieutenant General Babakir Zebari, here on Thursday, Ahmadinejad said the Islamic Republic of Iran and Iraq are united on the monotheism and justice front, standing the arrogant and bullying powers.

He said the arrogant powers are only seeking their own interests, attaching not the least value to the rights and culture of nations. 'Under such conditions, the world independent nations and governments should further consolidate their relations.'

He added that Iran and Iraq can play an effective role under present conditions. 'While safeguarding their national interests, Iran and Iraq can have effective cooperation in helping restoration of a fair system worldwide.'

Ahmadinejad went on to say that regional nations should get rid of the yoke of the arrogant powers and such independent nations as Iran and Iraq can use their sense, culture and ideology to take decisive steps to this end.

Noting that Iraqi government is capable enough to guarantee full security in the country, t Ahmadinejad said Iraqi government can establish security, thus bringing dignity, progress and independence to the country. 'Undoubtedly, establishment of security would lead to stability, unity, development and progress.'

The Iraqi official for his part, expressing that Iran and Iraq share abundant commonalties, said Iranian and Iraqi nations attach special value and credit to stronger relations with Iran and no power can harm their strong ties. -NNN-IRNA
