MOSCOW (RIA Novosti)-The new Egyptian government will be announced on Wednesday, December 7, four days later than planned, the al-Ahram newspaper said.

The delay was due to disputes over the new interior minister's candidacy.

The previous government stepped down in late November after a series of deadly clashes between police and protesters unhappy with the delay in the transition to civilian rule following February's overthrow of President Hosni Mubarak.

The ruling Supreme Council of Armed Forces (SCAF) initially planned to form new  government before parliamentary elections begin on November 28.
