SRINAGAR (NNN-PTI): The Jammu and Kashmir government has made a Rs 254-crore rehabilitation plan for 185 families displaced due to the construction of Kishenganga Hydel Electric Project in Bandipora district.

"A project plan of Rs 253.75 crore has been made for rehabilitation of 185 families affected due to construction of Kishenganga Hydel Electric Project," an official spokesman said after a review meeting chaired by District Development Commissioner, Bandipora, Manzoor Ahmad Lone.

He said under the project, power and water system, hospital, schools, roads, drainage and other facilities are being kept available in affected villages of Gurez and Kralpora.

The meeting was informed that an amount of Rs 90.50 crore has been released by the NHPC so far for this purpose, the spokesman said.

The District Development Commissioner on the occasion stressed for close coordination and cooperation between the executing agencies and departments so that the development works are taken up as soon as possible. He said a monitoring committee will also be constituted in this regard. -NNN-PTI
