NNN--- A women passes by a banner outside U.N. Headquarters in New York, United States which says that” the world's population reached 7 billion”. With the world’s rising population hitting the historic seven billion milestone in October 2011, the United Nations predicted that population growth will continue to increase, reaching an estimated 9.3 billion by the year 2050. This year's World Population Day, 11 July 2012, focuses on the theme of “Universal Access to Reproductive Health Services.” Reproductive health problems remain the leading cause of ill health and death for women of childbearing age worldwide. Some 222 million women who would like to avoid or delay pregnancy lack access to effective family planning. Photo courtesy UN photo/ Rick Bajornas---NNN
