IMPHAL (NNN-PTI): Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi inaugurated new buildings in the Manipur capital, including the new assembly complex and City Convention Centre, during a day's day visit to the state.

The two also inaugurated the Manipur Film Development Corporation complex and the Inter State Bus Terminus.

After inauguration of the buildings, the Prime Minister and Gandhi went to Raj Bhavan, official sources said.

Singh and Gandhi did not give any speech on the occasion. The Prime Minister will address a public meeting at Kangla later in the day.

Earlier, the VVIPs were received at the Imphal airport by Governor Gurbachan Jagat, Chief Minister O Ibobi Singh, his cabinet colleagues and high officials.

Accompanying them were Union Law minister Salman Khurshid and Minister of State in the Prime Minister's Office V Naryanswamy.

From the airport, the VVIPs were flown to Kangla helipad here in three helicopters.  -NNN-PTI
