India: Budget to Be Presented After State Polls-Minister Mukherjee

NEW DELHI (NNN-UNI) -- Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee today said the Union Budget will be presented after the completion of elections in five states.

However, he said Government has not yet decided the final date of presentation.

"We have not yet decided the time for the Budget, but naturally it will be after the elections," Mr Mukherjee told reporters here.

Elections in Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Uttarakhand, Goa, and Manipur are scheduled to be held between January 30 to March 3.

Counting of votes will be held on March 4.—NNN-UNI
