THIRUVANANTHAPURAM, India (NNN-Bernama) -- Babuji Kattungal, who made his name in the Guinness Book of World Records for creating the smallest model of 'The Last Supper of Jesus Christ', has embarked on a quest to make the biggest handwritten copy of the Holy Quran.
The artist who hails from Kottayam district in south Indian Kerala state has copied the scriptures onto a book measuring 85 cm by 65 cm which he says is "the biggest handwritten copy of the Quran ever attempted."
"The book weighs 50 kg and has 603 pages with 14 lines in each page. The size of each letter is one inch," Babuji told Press Trust of India.
"I used permanent ink for writing and it took me three years to copy the verses into the book. I had to spend around Rs 30,000 for the work so far," he said.
The artist said his life in the Gulf had helped him learn Arabic to enable him to copy the Quran. -- NNN-BERNAMA
